Adar Udupi Refreshment

We are a small Udupi place located in Vile Parle East, right near the Dindayal Society. It’s a simple setup with those old granite-top tables and heavy plastic chairs that have been here for years. We start the steaming for the idlis very early in the morning, usually before the sun is up, so they are ready for the office goers and students. The sambar is always bubbling in a big stainless steel pot near the front window. It’s a noisy place with the sound of steel plates clattering and the waiters shouting out orders to the kitchen staff. We don't have air conditioning, just some old ceiling fans that spin fast to try and keep the air moving during the lunch rush. It gets very crowded between twelve and two, and you might have to share a corner of your table with a stranger if the place is full. We don't mind if you sit for a while after your coffee, but usually, people just eat their meal and head back to work. The menu is written on a simple chalkboard on the wall, and we keep it mostly to the traditional items like medu vada and masala dosa. Sometimes the dosa isn't as crispy as other days if the tawa is getting too hot, but we try our best to get it right. It’s been our family business for a long time at this spot in Palanpurv Patia 5. We stay open until the last customer leaves.
