If you are looking for Abby School Of Art, we are over at Plot No B-2 in the Lillac Building. It’s on Domnic Lane 3, which is just off Marve Road. We are quite close to Orlem Church in Malad West, so that’s a good landmark to look for if you get lost. The school is set up inside the building, so it feels a bit more like a home or a private studio than a big institution. It’s usually pretty quiet on Domnic Lane, which is nice because Marve Road can be a real headache with all the traffic. We spend a lot of our time surrounded by pencils, paints, and paper. There is usually a bit of a mess on the tables, but that’s just how it goes when people are working on their projects. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who keep the place open and make sure there are enough supplies for everyone. The windows look out onto the other buildings in Malad West, and sometimes you can hear the bells from the church. It’s a very grounded place. We don’t have any big corporate goals or anything like that. We just like having a space where people can come and sit down to draw or paint for a while. We spend a lot of time cleaning up brushes and reorganizing the shelves. It’s a simple, quiet life here in the Lillac Building.
