The Style Handicrafts

The Style Handicrafts is located in Peergaib, right across from the Mandir in Bansi Gali, and not far from the Police Chowki. Our shop is in a narrow alley that stays fairly cool even when the sun is out, though it can get quite crowded when the temple has a lot of visitors. We spend our days surrounded by the things we make, and there is usually a layer of dust or wood shavings on the floor by the time evening rolls around. It’s a noisy place, mostly because of the tools we use and the bells from the Mandir across the way. We don't have a polished storefront with glass windows. Instead, we have a heavy door and a lot of finished pieces sitting on old wooden shelves. The people who work here are mostly locals who have been doing this kind of handiwork for most of their lives. We don't follow a strict corporate schedule; we start early and work until the natural light starts to fade in the alley. It’s a simple way of living, focused on the physical work of making handicrafts by hand. Sometimes we sit outside on the steps and talk to the neighbors or watch the people going into the temple for their prayers. It’s just a normal part of life here in Bansi Gali, where the work is steady and the days are long. We are just artisans trying to keep the tradition going one piece at a time.
