Super Handicrafts

If you go down Gali No. 6 in Asalatpura Islam Nagar, you’ll find us. Super Handicrafts is tucked away in a narrow lane. It’s a lively place. There are always people shouting greetings and kids running around. Our workshop is on the ground floor. It’s easy to bring stuff in and out, which is good because the street is too narrow for big trucks. We have to use small carts. The work we do is slow. You can't rush these things. We sit on low stools for hours. Sometimes our knees ache, but we’re used to it. The name Super Handicrafts might sound like a big company, but we’re just a small group. We’ve known each other since we were kids. Working together feels natural. We don't have any formal meetings. We just talk over tea and decide what to do next. The walls are covered in old calendars and notes we’ve scribbled over the years. It’s not the cleanest place, but it’s ours. We take pride in finishing a piece, even if nobody ever sees who made it. We just like the feeling of making something from nothing. It’s a good way to spend the day. When it’s time to go home, we just pull the shutter down and lock it. We’ll be back early tomorrow morning to start all over again.
