Our workshop for A.A. Handicraft is tucked away in Qasdi Tola over in the Peerghaib area. It’s one of those parts of town where you can hear the sounds of work from every doorway. We focus on handmade items, so the place is always a bit cluttered with tools and raw materials. There is usually dust on the floor by the end of the day, but that’s a sign of a good day’s work. We don’t have a fancy showroom with bright lights. Most of what we do is just sitting at the benches and getting the pieces right. The light comes in through the main door in the mornings, which is when we get the most done. People in the neighborhood know us well. They walk by and peek in to see what we are making this week. It’s a small team here, just a few of us who have been doing this for years. We don't really use big machines, mostly just our hands and some old tools that have been around since we opened. Sometimes the tea man comes by and we take a break on the steps outside. Peerghaib is a crowded place, but it feels like home to us. We don’t spend money on big ads or fancy signs. Our address in Qasdi Tola is well-known to the regulars who have been buying from us since the start. It's just a regular local business.
