Our place is at 1 Kazi Tola, right on Lambi Gali in Moradabad. If you know Moradabad, you know this area is famous for metalwork and crafts. Aa Handicrafts is just one of the many spots along this narrow lane. Our building is old and the street is always loud with the sound of hammers and bikes going past. We have a lot of different things made of brass and copper. Most of it is sitting on old wooden shelves. It’s a family thing, really. We’ve been here in Lambi Gali for as long as I can remember. The work is dirty and we often have soot on our hands by the end of the day. It’s not a fancy life. We deal with suppliers and buyers who come through the alley. Sometimes it’s hard to move around because of all the crates and finished goods waiting to be shipped out. We don’t have a big office or anything modern. Most of the business happens over a cup of tea right there in the shop. We just try to make stuff that lasts and looks decent. People come to us because they know we are right here in the heart of the craft district. It’s a lot of manual labor, but it keeps us going. We just keep our heads down and do the work. The noise of the street is just part of our daily background now.
