We’ve been here in Sir Syed Nagar for a long time now. If you know the Sambhal Highway, you probably pass us all the time without even noticing. It’s always a bit noisy with the trucks going past, but we got used to it over the years. Inside the workshop, there’s usually a lot of dust from the bone and horn work we do. My father started this years back, and now we just keep it going as best as we can. Some days it’s just the three of us working, other times we have more hands when a big shipment needs to go out. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s mostly just boxes stacked up and the smell of the machines. The tea stall right outside the gate is where we spend most of our breaks. We deal with lots of different people, mostly folks looking for items to sell elsewhere. It’s hard work, especially in the summer when the heat really hits the roof. Sometimes the electricity cuts out for hours and we just sit outside for a bit. We don't really do much advertising. People usually find us because someone told them we were here on the highway. We’ve got piles of samples sitting in the corners, some from years ago. It’s a bit messy, but we know where everything is. That's just how Maryam Exports has always been. We just show up every morning, open the shutters, and get to work.
