Kamal Handicraft is located in Sharma Gali, which is part of the Baradari area. It’s a quiet enough spot compared to the main markets, but it stays busy in its own way. We are a small team working out of this space, surrounded by various crafts we’ve been making for years. The walls are lined with shelves that are usually overflowing with finished pieces and raw materials. We don't really have a business strategy or anything like that. We just come in every morning, sit down, and start working on whatever order is next. It’s a lot of sitting and focusing on small details, which can be tiring but it’s what we do. Sharma Gali is a place where everyone knows what the person next door is doing. We’ve seen children grow up in this lane while we’ve been sitting here working. The work is steady, and we don't try to make it more complicated than it needs to be. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to work, especially when it’s too humid for the materials, but we manage. We aren't looking to become a giant corporation; we just want to keep making things the way we always have. If you walk into our place, you'll probably see us with our sleeves rolled up, deep in work. It’s a simple life, and it’s been our way for a long time now. We just do the work.
