If you are looking for J.M.D. Exports, you have to head down Rampur Road and turn into Lane-2 of Manju Nagar. We are right opposite Prabhat Market, so it is never quiet. There are always rickshaws and carts blocking the way, which makes getting our shipments out a bit of a challenge some days. The office and the warehouse are basically the same room. We have some partitions made of plywood to separate the desks from the storage area, but they don’t do much for the noise. It is a busy environment. We are constantly checking orders and making sure the labels match the boxes. Sometimes the heat in Lane-2 is unbearable, so we have these big industrial fans that just move the hot air around. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. We eat our lunch at our desks most days because there is always a phone ringing or a driver waiting for a signature. Manju Nagar is a tight-knit place and we know most of the other business owners on the street. We’ve had a few leaks in the roof when the monsoon hits, and we just put buckets down and keep working. That is just how life goes here. We aren't trying to be anything other than a small export house doing its best in a crowded market. Sometimes we stay late when a big order needs to go, but mostly we head home when the market starts to close up.
