S. R. Handicrafts

Our workshop, S. R. Handicrafts, is tucked away in Guiyan Bagh within the Wagle Industrial Estate. If you know the area, you know it is mostly factories and warehouses, which suits us just fine. We spend most of our time making things by hand, which is why there is always a bit of dust or scraps on the floor. It is part of the job, I guess. We have been in this space for a good bit of time. The industrial estate is a noisy place with trucks moving in and out, but inside our unit, it is a bit more focused. We work with different materials and try to make sure everything we put together is solid. We are not some big corporation with fancy offices. We just have our tools and our workbenches. The light in Guiyan Bagh is alright in the mornings, which helps when we are doing the more detailed bits of the crafts. Most of the people working here have been with us since the start. We have a rhythm to how we do things. Sometimes we stay late to finish a batch of items if a deadline is coming up. It is tiring work but it feels good to see the finished products sitting on the shelves before they get shipped out. We just stick to what we know and try to keep the quality decent without making a big fuss about it. We’ve got a small radio that plays in the background while we work.
