If you drive down Rampur Road and head into Manju Nagar, you’ll find us at Giftland Handicrafts. The place is basically a big warehouse full of all sorts of items piled on wooden pallets. There’s a small office space carved out in one corner, but it’s mostly just a desk with a computer that’s a few years too old. We get a lot of dust blowing in from the road, so we’re always wiping things down. It’s not the cleanest or the most organized looking place, but we know where every single item is located. The staff here is mostly local folks who walk or bike in every morning. We don’t have air conditioning, just a few big ceiling fans that hum loudly all day. It gets pretty stuffy in the afternoons, so we usually keep the big side doors open to catch whatever breeze there is. There’s always something to be wrapped or boxed up. We don't spend money on fancy catalogs or brochures. Usually, people just find us because they’ve heard about us from someone else in the trade. It’s a very hands-on kind of business. We spend most of our time on our feet, moving from one side of the room to the other. It’s a simple way of working, but it’s kept us going for a long time without needing much else. We just do our thing and hope the orders keep coming in.
