About Danish Handicrafts – Art & Craft in Moradabad
Our workshop is tucked away in Baradari Sambhal and this is where we spend the vast majority of our time working on different items by hand. It can honestly get quite dusty in here with all the different materials and scraps we use, but that is just the way things go when you are actually making stuff from scratch. We have a small group of people who have been working with us for a long time now, and they really know their way around the various tools we keep in the back. It isn't a big factory with machines running all day or anything like that. We just work on one single piece at a time and wait to see how it finally turns out. Sometimes a specific design takes much longer than we initially expected it to, so we just keep at it until the work is finished to our satisfaction. This area here in Sambhal has a very long history with this type of manual work, so we feel like we fit right in with the rest of the neighborhood. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights. Most of the time, the finished items are just sitting around on wooden tables or leaning against the brick walls while they dry or wait to be packed into boxes. It’s a quiet and steady way to make a living. Some days are definitely busier than others depending on the orders we have on our books.
