Akbar Brass Products

If you go down to Deputy Ganj, you will find us at Qayyum House. We are Akbar Brass Products and we use Post Box No. 251 for our letters. This neighborhood is famous for metalwork, so there is always the sound of hammers and polishing machines in the background. It’s a very busy place. The air smells like metal and old stone. Qayyum House is an older building with lots of character. Our workshop is tucked away inside. We have been making brass items here for quite some time. It’s a family kind of thing, though we aren't all related. Most of the guys have been here since they were young. We don't have any fancy brochures. People usually find us by word of mouth or by just walking through Deputy Ganj. The work is dirty and your hands are always stained by the end of the shift. We sit on low stools and work on the pieces until they look right. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about making things that last for people. We have a lot of scrap metal piled in the corner that we reuse. During the festivals, the whole area gets even more crowded and we sometimes have to work late to keep up. It’s a hard life but it is what we know. We just keep doing our bit every day and hope for the best with each shipment.
