Punjabi Chatori

You can find us at 767 on the Main Road, right along the Roorkee Road in Meerut. We are pretty close to Rajan Kunj, so if you are heading that way, you will pass us. The road is always noisy with all the traffic going towards Roorkee, but we have been here for a long time and have gotten used to it. The shop, Punjabi Chatori, is quite plain, with just enough room for a few people to sit and some space for the kitchen at the back. We don't spend money on fancy uniforms or expensive furniture because we’d rather just focus on what’s on the stove. Usually, it's just a couple of us working through the day, taking orders and making sure the place stays clean enough for the next group of customers. We get a lot of people who are traveling long distances and need a quick stop to eat something before they continue their journey. There isn't any background music or air conditioning here, just the sound of the ceiling fans and the cars passing by outside. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, which is common in this part of Meerut, but we just light some lamps and keep going. We don’t have a mission statement or any of that corporate talk; we are just here to provide a meal to whoever walks through the door. It’s a simple way to make a living, and it keeps us connected.
