STG Public School is located out in Chinakurali. It is a quiet village in Mandya district. The air is a bit fresher here than in the city. Our building is not very large, but it is enough for the local kids who come from nearby farms and houses. You can see the fields from the upper windows. Sometimes a cow or two walks past the main gate during the middle of a lesson. We have basic classrooms with blackboards and chalk. The floors are stone and they stay cool in the heat. We do not have fancy computers or anything like that, just the books and the teachers. The playground is mostly just dirt, but the kids do not seem to mind when they are playing football or tag. In the rainy season, the road gets a bit muddy and it is a struggle for the school bus to get through the narrow lanes of Chinakurali village. We have been here serving the local families for a while. Most of us know the parents by name. It is a simple life. We start the day with a small prayer and then it is straight to the lessons. The bells are rung by hand, a heavy brass bell that everyone can hear across the village. It is not a place with big signs or advertisements. People just know us because we have always been here on this road. We try to keep things orderly, but with so many kids, there is always a bit of chaos during the lunch break.
