Jyothi Nivas School

You can find Jyothi Nivas School over in the Kaveri Township area of Srirangapatna. It’s a fairly quiet part of Mandya, which is good for a school setting. We’ve been operating out of this building for a long time, and it has that lived-in feel to it. The garden in the front needs a bit of work, but we try to keep the grass trimmed when we have the time. Inside, the classrooms are filled with the usual stuff like wooden benches and stacks of notebooks. We don't go for anything flashy here. Most of our days are spent following the regular schedule, from the morning prayer to the last class in the afternoon. The kids come from all over the township and some from the nearby villages too. We see the same faces every day, and after a while, you get to know the siblings and the cousins of all the students. It’s a small community vibe. Sometimes we have to deal with minor issues like a leaky roof during the monsoon or a broken window, but that’s just part of running a school. The teachers are dedicated and don't mind staying a bit late to help someone catch up with their work. We focus on the basics here—reading, writing, and math. It’s not a complicated operation. We just want to make sure the kids have a safe place to be during the day while their parents are busy working. It feels like home to most of us by now.
