Coorg Public School

Up here in Gonikoppal, things move at a slightly different pace. Coorg Public School is tucked away in the S Kodagu area. Most people just know us by our PO Box 14 address since the mail is how we get a lot of our supplies. It’s a beautiful part of the world, very green and fresh. The school itself is a collection of buildings where we host students from all around the district. We don’t have the bright lights of a big city, but we have plenty of space and quiet. Mornings are usually misty, and you can hear the birds before the kids start arriving. It’s a practical place. We focus on getting the work done. The teachers are mostly locals who have been here for years. They know the families and the history of the place. Our facilities are basic but they serve the purpose. We have some fields for sports and rooms for the different subjects. It’s not always perfect; sometimes the rain makes a mess or a door squeaks, but we fix things as we go. People here value hard work and being decent to each other. That’s the atmosphere we try to have every day. It’s just a normal school in a very nice part of Karnataka. We aren't here to make big promises, just to provide a solid place for kids to spend their days. We are happy to be part of the community here.
