Dvk English Medium High School. Being near Krishnaraja Sagar in Mandya means we get a lot of students from the surrounding villages. The air is a bit fresher here compared to the city. We started this school because parents in the area wanted their children to learn in English. It’s a high school, so we deal with teenagers mostly. The building is simple, painted in plain colors, and we have a few trees in the yard for shade. Mandya gets quite warm, so those trees are important during the lunch break. We don't have any high-tech gadgets or air-conditioned rooms. It's just wooden desks, green boards, and a lot of textbooks. The staff room is always full of tea cups and stacks of notebooks waiting to be corrected. Sometimes the bus service to this part of Mandya is a bit late, so we have to wait for everyone to arrive before starting the first period. We follow the state board rules and try to keep things organized. The students are mostly from farming families or people working near the dam. They work hard because they want to go to college in the bigger towns later. We just do our bit to get them ready. It’s a quiet life here, except when the school bell rings at the end of the day. Then it’s a lot of shouting and running.
