Suket Valley Farmer Producer Company Limited is our name. We are located at Geeta Ram’s place in Vill Bagain. That is in the Karsog tehsil of Mandi district. Karsog is a beautiful valley, and Suket is the old name for the kingdom that used to be here, so we wanted to keep that history alive in our name. Geeta Ram is part of our group and his house is where we do all the office work and keep our papers. Bagain village is a small place, very focused on farming and the seasons. We spend most of our time worrying about the harvest and whether the roads will stay open. In Mandi, the weather can change fast, so we are always talking about that over tea. We are just a group of farmers who wanted to do something together for the village. It’s not a fancy business with suits and ties. We wear our everyday clothes and sit around a wooden table in Bagain to figure things out. The post office is right there in the village, which makes things easier for our mail. We handle the paperwork ourselves, even if it takes us a bit longer than a big city company would. It’s a local effort for local people. We know the land here in Karsog very well because we have worked it all our lives. That’s why we started this. It’s about the people who live in these hills and work the soil every single day.
