Sri Janakiram Hotel

This hotel sits on Tamil Sangam Road in Madurai, right near the college. We have been a part of this specific neighborhood for many years now. Most of the people living around here know us quite well. The building is a simple one located at number 99/49. We mostly focus on serving the kind of traditional food that local people enjoy eating daily. Since we are so close to the Tamil Sangam College, we see many students coming in for a quick bite between their classes. It gets very crowded during the lunch hours when everyone is hungry at the same time. We do not have any modern air conditioning, so we just rely on ceiling fans to keep the air moving around. The walls have a few old pictures hanging on them. We try to keep the tables wiped down as much as possible throughout the day. It has a bit of a family-run feel to it. We handle the cooking and the service ourselves for the most part. Madurai can get incredibly hot, so we always make sure to have plenty of water ready for anyone who walks through the door. We are not trying to be some fancy five-star establishment. We are just a local hotel where you can sit and get a meal. The street outside is always full of traffic and people. We start our day very early to get the stove going.
