Hotel Velan

Hotel Velan is right here on Narimedu Main Road in Madurai. We’ve been at 37/1 for a good while now. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when the traffic starts picking up outside. You can see the people heading to work and the students walking past. Inside, we just try to keep things moving. There is usually someone at the front desk even if it’s quiet. We spend a lot of time cleaning the rooms and making sure the floors are wiped down because Madurai gets quite dusty with all the heat. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sort that out quickly so nobody gets too hot. It’s not a fancy place but we keep it tidy. The building has seen some years, and we know all the neighbors around here. There is a tea shop just a few doors down where most of us go during breaks. We get travelers coming in from the station or just people passing through the city. We don't have a big corporate team or anything like that. It’s just a few of us making sure people have a place to sleep. Usually, the evenings are the busiest when the sun goes down and it cools off a bit. We just handle the check-ins and hand over the keys. It’s a simple routine we follow every day. We’ve grown used to the noise from the main road by now.
