One World School

One World School is located at No 2 on New Natham Road. This part of Madurai, Chinna Chokkikulam, is usually quite busy with people moving around. The school itself is a practical building. We don't have those huge glass walls you see in modern offices. Instead, we have solid brick walls and standard windows. It gets quite warm in Madurai, so we rely on the fans a lot. Most of our day is spent walking up and down the stairs to check on the classes. There’s always a bit of chatter in the hallways during break times. We have a small yard where the kids spend their time outside, though it gets a bit dusty when they run around. We don't put on any airs about being something we aren't. We’re just a local school providing a place for children in this neighborhood. Our staff often sits together at lunch, talking about normal things like the price of vegetables or the traffic on New Natham Road. Sometimes we run out of supplies like markers or notebooks, and someone has to run out to the shop nearby to get more. It’s a very hands-on way to run a school. We don't have a big corporate board making decisions. It’s just us here on the ground, making sure the gates are locked at night and the classrooms are ready for the next morning. It's a simple, honest way to work in the heart of Madurai.
