Ntr Model School

You can find us at No 5253/1, on the second floor of the Subamangalam Department Store building. We are located on Old Vandiyur Main Road in Thasildar Nagar, Madurai 625001. It is a bit of an unusual spot for a school, being above a shop, but it works for us. The stairs are a bit steep, so we have to tell the kids not to run when they are going up or down. Because we are on the second floor, we get a good view of the street below and all the people going in and out of the store to buy their groceries. It gets quite noisy with the traffic on the main road, but once the windows are shut, it is quiet enough to study. We have partitioned the space into classrooms using wooden boards. It is not a huge campus with trees and grass, but we make the most of what we have. Our staff room is just a small area with a couple of tables and a water filter. Most of the children live in the nearby streets of Thasildar Nagar and walk to school every morning. We have a small balcony where we keep some potted plants to make the place look a bit greener. It is a practical setup for a city school where space is hard to find. We spend our days teaching, grading papers, and making sure the kids stay away from the edge of the stairs. It is a busy, tight-knit little school in a very busy part of Madurai.
