New Vijitha School

New Vijitha School is located at No 135 on Palace Road, right in the middle of Madurai City. It’s a historic area, and you can feel the energy of the city just outside our doors. The building is an older one, which means it has thick walls and high ceilings that help keep things a bit cooler when the Madurai sun is beating down. Being on Palace Road means there’s always something going on outside, from local vendors to people visiting the nearby sites. Inside the school, though, we try to keep things focused. The rooms are filled with wooden desks and blackboards that have seen many years of use. We don’t have a massive campus with fields, so the kids use the indoor spaces and the small courtyard for their activities. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes, especially during the morning rush, but we make it work. The staff is mostly made up of people who have lived in Madurai their whole lives. We know the shortcuts and the local stories. There’s a certain noise level that you just get used to when you’re in the heart of a city like this. We don’t try to pretend to be something we’re not; we’re just a local school providing a place for kids to study. Most days are pretty much the same—lessons, lunch, and a bit of chatter before everyone heads home into the busy city streets.
