N L G Public School Semi Khera

Our place is at 12, Bharathiyar 7th Street in S S Colony, Madurai. If you know Madurai, you know it gets quite hot, so we rely on the fans a lot during the middle of the day. The school is right in the middle of a residential street. It’s a simple building where we’ve set up the classrooms as best as we can. There isn't a huge playground, just enough space for the kids to stand for assembly in the morning. We have some trees nearby that give a little bit of shade to the front entrance. Inside, the walls are painted a light color and we have the usual school charts taped up everywhere. The benches are old-fashioned but they do the job. We keep a close eye on the clock because the day moves fast once the first lesson starts. Parents come by to drop off lunch boxes if the kids forget them. It’s that kind of place. We don't have fancy computer labs with the latest tech, just the basics that are needed for a public school. The floors are stone and they stay relatively cool even in May. We spend our time checking homework and making sure the registers are filled out correctly. It is a very normal, local school life for all of us here. We just keep the routine going and hope the rain stays away during dismissal time.
