Milton Matriculation Higher Secondary School is situated right on Alagarkoil Road in Melur. If you know Madurai, you know how that road can get during the day. We have been here in Melur for many years now, and we’ve seen a lot of kids grow up and move on. The school building is pretty old, but it stays standing and we keep it as clean as we can. It’s a matriculation school, so we follow the usual rules, but we try to keep things grounded. There is no point in acting like we are some fancy city school. We are just a local place for families in the 625106 area. The teachers here have been around for a long time. Some of them even taught the parents of the kids who are here now. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, but the fans keep things moving. We have some trees in the yard that give a bit of shade during the breaks. You will see the yellow buses parked out front every morning and evening. It’s a regular routine that doesn’t change much. We focus on the lessons and making sure the students pass their exams without too much stress. Sometimes the bell rings a minute late, or the chalk dust gets everywhere, but that is part of being in a school. We are just a part of the Melur community and we like it that way.
