Meera Nursery & Primary School

Anaiyur has grown a lot over the years, and being in the TNHB Colony at 2nd Street means we see a lot of the local changes firsthand. Meera Nursery and Primary School is located at door number 2095, which is a fairly quiet spot compared to the main roads of Madurai. The building has two floors, and the stairs are always full of kids going up and down for their different lessons. We don’t have a big playground, but we make do with the space we have, and the kids don’t seem to mind much. In the mornings, the sun hits the front gate directly, and it can get quite bright while we wait for everyone to arrive. We have the standard nursery stuff—benches that are a bit too small for adults and walls covered in student drawings that are taped up. The teachers here have a lot of patience, which they need because it gets quite loud during the lunch break. We don't spend money on fancy advertisements; most people find out about us because their neighbor’s kid comes here. The water cooler in the hallway is a busy spot, and there is always a bit of chatter near the office about books or uniforms. It’s a very grounded place, just a simple school trying to help the kids in the colony learn their basics without any fuss. We have a small bookshelf in each room, and the children take turns picking out books.
