Down at No 139/2 on Vilancheri Mainoad in Pasumalai, you will find Indian Grace Public School. Madurai is a place that stays hot for most of the year, and our little corner in Pasumalai is no different. The school building is a regular site that has seen many groups of students pass through the gates over the years. The front gate has a bit of a squeak when you open it in the morning. Inside, the building is full of the sounds you would expect, like kids reciting their lessons or the shuffling of feet in the corridors. It is definitely not a quiet environment. We have teachers who live nearby and others who come in from the main parts of Madurai city. We do not have any fancy air conditioning systems, just the standard ceiling fans that keep the air moving in the classrooms. The playground area gets a bit dusty when the wind blows through Pasumalai, but the kids do not seem to mind it when they are playing. We spend our days filling out the registers and making sure the lessons stay on track. There are no big promotional posters on our walls, just some old charts and drawings the students made. We have been part of this neighborhood for a long time, and parents often stop by the office just to chat for a minute. We just do our work every day and keep the place running.
