Goverment Higher Secondary School

Our school is right on Velny Main Road in the town of Theni. If you’ve ever traveled through this part of the state, you might have passed by our gates. It’s a government-run place, so we don't have anything fancy or extra. The building is made of sturdy stone and concrete, and it has been standing for a long time. Every morning, students from all over Theni arrive, many of them walking long distances or taking the local buses that stop nearby. The noise from the main road is constant, with trucks and buses zooming past, but we’ve all gotten used to it over the years. We have a large group of students, so it’s always loud during the breaks. The teachers are busy with a lot of paperwork and large classes. We don't have a PR person writing our materials; we just do our jobs. The desks are old and the blackboards are a bit grey from years of chalk use. We focus on the basic things that need to be taught. In the afternoons, the heat can be a bit much, but we keep the windows open for whatever breeze comes off the road. It’s a straightforward environment. There are no frills here, just a lot of hard work and many students trying to pass their exams. We take pride in being a landmark on Velny Main Road. It’s just the way it is here in Theni, a plain school for the local public.
