Ellora International School

Ellora International School is situated over at 13th Cross Street in Bharathipuram. If you are familiar with the Karuppayurani area of Madurai, you will find us easily enough near the 383B block. Madurai is known for its heat, and our school yard definitely feels it in the afternoons, though we have some trees that help out a bit. We are not a giant institution, but we have enough room for the kids to run around and get their energy out during the breaks. The neighborhood around Bharathipuram is mostly residential, so things stay relatively calm compared to the center of the city. You can hear the kids playing and the teachers calling out instructions throughout the day. We have a gate that stays shut during school hours, and there is usually a bit of a crowd of parents waiting outside when it is time to go home. The classrooms are filled with the usual stuff like chalkboards and posters made by the students. It is a very local feel here; the teachers often know the parents by their first names because many live just a few streets away. We do not try to be something we are not. We are just a school in Karuppayurani where the children come to learn their lessons and the staff works hard to keep the schedule on track. It is simple, everyday life for us here in Madurai.
