World Wide Mobile

Running World Wide Mobile on Mall Road keeps us pretty busy most of the week. Koregaon Bhima is a noisy place, and the shop gets a lot of that street noise coming right through the front door. We have a glass counter that’s got a few scratches on it from years of sliding phones across it. It’s mostly just me and a helper here, trying to keep things organized. The shelves are filled with boxes of chargers and those cheap headphones everyone seems to lose. We spend a lot of time cleaning fingerprints off the display cases because people are always touching the screens. In the afternoons, the sun hits the front window and it gets quite warm inside, even with the fan going. We don’t have much room to move around, so we have to be careful not to trip over the power strips on the floor. People come in with broken screens and they’re usually in a big hurry. We do what we can with the tools we have. Sometimes we just sit outside on the stools when it’s quiet and watch the cars go by on the road. It’s a simple setup we’ve got here. We don’t bother with anything fancy, just the basics that people need for their phones. Every evening we count the stock and sweep the floor before locking up. It’s a long day but it’s what we do for a living.
