Trimitee Architects & Interior Designers is tucked away in Shivaji Nagar on Old Hanuman Lane, number 773/4. The lane is quite narrow, so you have to watch out for the bikes and scooters when you’re coming in. Our office is a small space that we’ve crammed full of everything we need. There are drawers full of hardware samples like door handles and cabinet hinges that rattle every time a heavy truck goes by outside. We do a lot of our work on old-fashioned drafting tables, though the computers take up most of the room these days. The air feels a bit heavy with the smell of ink and old paper. We have a small balcony where we keep a few dying plants and where we go to get a bit of air when the office feels too small. Most of our day is spent sketching out ideas or talking to contractors on the phone. It’s not a quiet place, as there’s always someone coming in to drop off a delivery or ask a question about a project. We have a calendar on the wall that we use to track everything, but it’s mostly covered in scribbled notes and coffee stains. The floorboards creak a little near the entrance, so we always know when someone is coming. It’s a simple setup, just a few people working hard in a small corner of the city, trying to keep everything on track while the city moves outside our door.
