If you find yourself on Gill Road, look for the Guru Nanak Dev Market. We’re at No.1/12. The market is always a bit of a mess with people moving around and scooters everywhere. It’s a lively place to work, even if it gets a bit overwhelming on Mondays. Spinks Exports isn't a huge operation. We mostly spend our time checking orders and making sure everything is packed up right. The space is filled with boxes and tape and the smell of cardboard. We’ve been in this market for a good while now, so we know most of the other shop owners. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to make sure the stuff we send out is what people asked for. It involves a lot of list-checking and making sure the labels are stuck on straight. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit there talking until it comes back on. It’s a very normal way to spend the day. We don’t have a fancy reception area. If you come by, you’ll probably find us mid-task with a pen tucked behind an ear. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily chores of running an export business from a busy market stall. It’s steady work and it keeps us busy from morning till evening, which is all we can really ask for.
