Our place is in Vishwakarma Town on Gill Road and it has a lot of history with farming equipment. It is a bit of a maze of metal pipes and blades and half-finished machines. We work on things that help the farmers around here get their work done. When the harvest season is coming, we are incredibly busy and the shop stays open long after dark. You can hear the sound of welding and grinding from the street. The floor is covered in iron filings and the smell of burnt metal is always in the air. We have a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us since their fathers were running the farms. We don't have a fancy catalog or anything; we just show them what we have on the floor. Sometimes we are out back in the yard trying to fix a piece of equipment that is too big to fit through the door. The Gill Road traffic is always a mess so getting deliveries in can be a headache for us. We have a few old wooden benches for people to sit on while they wait for a repair or just to have a chat. It is a very practical kind of life here. We focus on making things that are strong and can take a beating in the fields for years. It’s not pretty work but it is necessary for the people who live around here and farm.
