New Punjab Kheti Sewa Center

In the Mittal Wadi area of Ludhiana, we’ve got our kheti sewa center running. It’s basically a place for farmers and people with gardens to get what they need. We stock seeds, fertilizers, and some basic tools for the field. Since we are in Ludhiana, agriculture is a big deal and we see a lot of different people coming through. Some come for advice on their crops, though we aren't experts, just have some experience from years of doing this. The shop smells like earth and sacks of grain, which is how it should be. We keep the New Punjab Kheti Sewa Center open early because farmers start their day long before the sun is high. It’s not a shiny place. The floor is concrete and there are bags piled up against the walls. We keep a ledger for the regulars who pay at the end of the month. Mittal Wadi is a busy place with tractors and trucks moving around often. We try to keep the right stuff for the season, like wheat seeds when it’s time or different sprays when the bugs are bad. It’s hard work, lifting heavy bags and dealing with the heat, but it’s what we know. My son helps me out during the peak sowing season. We don’t have a fancy website or anything like that. People just know where we are when they need something for their land or just a new shovel.
