If you drive down Ludhiana Dadisheth Road, you will see our place where all the farm supplies are kept. It smells mostly like earth and fertilizer inside, which is something you get used to after a week of working here. We have stacks of heavy bags piled up near the entrance, and there is always some dust in the air when we move them around. Farmers from the surrounding areas come in early to get what they need before the sun gets too high in the sky. We talk about the weather a lot because that is what matters most to the people who work the land. There are different seeds for every season and tools that have been sitting on the hooks for a while. Sometimes the paperwork gets a bit messy on the desk when everyone arrives at once. We use an old ledger for a lot of things because it is easier than staring at a screen all day long. It isn't a fancy showroom or anything like that, just a practical spot for people who work the land. We have some spare parts for machinery tucked away in the back corners where it is a bit darker. The floor is concrete and has some cracks, but it holds up under the weight of the tractors that occasionally stop by. It is steady work and we like seeing the same faces every year.
