Shri Ganesh Rice Mills

Shri Ganesh Rice Mills is located on Daudpur Road, right opposite A.S. College on Samrala Road. It’s a bit of a landmark because of the college being right there. We get a lot of students walking by, and the traffic on Samrala Road is almost constant. It makes for a very noisy environment, but you get used to it after a few weeks. The mill itself is tucked back a bit from the main road. We spend our time managing the flow of trucks and making sure the milling process doesn't stop. If the electricity goes out, we usually just sit outside and wait for it to come back, watching the cars go by. It’s a lot of waiting followed by a lot of rushing. The shed is big and old, with some rusty patches on the metal siding. We have a small office space, but it’s mostly just for keeping the paperwork dry. Most of the real business happens out on the floor where the grain is. We don't have any polished slogans or marketing brochures to hand out. If you come by, you’ll just see us in our work clothes doing what needs to be done. It’s a practical way to spend the day. We’ve been here long enough that the sounds of the college and the road just blend into the background of our daily work.
