Saptsindu Fed Farmer Producer Company Limited is based in Vill- Bharth near Batala in the Gurdaspur district. We operate out of Satnam Singh’s place. It is a typical village setting where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We got together to help the local farmers get a better handle on their production. It is not a fancy operation by any means. We have a desk and a few stools where we sit and talk about the upcoming season. The air is fresh and you can see the green fields right from the window. We spend our time looking at what the farmers are growing and how we can manage the collective better. There is a lot of talk about the rain and the soil quality around here. We don't have any marketing brochures or big advertisements. Word of mouth is how people find us in Bharth. Satnam is usually around to answer questions or help someone with their forms. It is a very slow-paced environment but the work is important to us. We just keep track of the members and make sure the farming side of the company stays on track. It is a community effort more than anything else and we are glad to be part of the local landscape in Batala. Every now and then we have to head into the main city for supplies but we prefer staying out here where the work actually happens. It is a quiet life but it keeps us busy enough.
