Sandhu Rice Mills

If you are driving down Samrala Road in Ludhiana, you will find us right near AS College. Being so close to the college means there is always a lot of activity around here, not just from the mill. We get a mix of students walking by and big trucks trying to navigate the traffic. The mill has been a fixture on this road for quite some time. It is a family-run kind of place where things happen at their own pace. We have the usual setup with the cleaning and de-husking machines. Some of the equipment is newer, but a lot of it has been working for decades. It has a specific rhythm to it that you get used to after a few years. Ludhiana is a busy city, and Samrala Road is no exception. We often have to coordinate with the drivers to make sure they don't block the main road when they are waiting to unload. Inside, it is usually a bit dark and cool compared to the street. We have stacks of gunny bags piled high up to the rafters. Sometimes birds fly in and we have to shoo them out so they don't get into the grain. We don't do much in the way of talking ourselves up. We just handle the rice as it comes. Most of our neighbors are used to the hum of our mill by now. It’s just a normal part of the day on this side of Ludhiana. We like it here.
