Rajan Sareen Architect

I am Rajan Sareen and I’ve been an architect for a long time. My office, Rajan Sareen Architect, is at 19, Red Cross Bhavan, which is right on The Mall. It’s a classic old building and I’ve got a small space in room 19. Working on The Mall is interesting because you see the whole city passing by. The office is a bit old-fashioned, I suppose. I still have a lot of paper files and some old drawing equipment that I can’t bring myself to throw away. It’s not a high-tech studio with flashing lights. It’s just a place where I sit down and work on building designs. Most of the time it’s just me and maybe one assistant trying to keep up with the paperwork. We spend our mornings going through emails and then the rest of the day is for the actual drawing and planning. It’s a lot of technical work, making sure everything is up to code and that the walls are where they should be. We don't do any big advertising. People mostly find out about us because we’ve been here at Red Cross Bhavan for so long. It’s a steady kind of life, just coming in every day and getting the architecture work done. The view from the window is probably the best part of the office, but most of the time I’m just looking at the plans on my desk.
