We started Nirbhai Farmers Producer Company Limited because we needed a way for folks around Samrala to get things done together. Our office is right there near the Ludhiana Road bus stand, in the Civil Line area. It’s a busy spot but easy for everyone to find when they're coming in from the fields. Dealing with farming today isn't like it used to be. There’s always paperwork or something new to figure out about crops and selling them. We just handle the daily stuff. Most days you’ll find someone hanging around talking about the weather or the price of seeds. We aren't a big city office with fancy desks. It’s just us trying to make sure the work gets handled right for the people living here. Being close to the bus stand helps since a lot of our members pass by there anyway. Sometimes the traffic is a bit much but we like being where the action is. Samrala is home for us. We know the land and we know the families who have been working it for generations. If you’re walking past the Civil Line area, you'll see where we are. It’s a plain place, nothing special to look at, but we get the job done. We spend a lot of time on the phone or out meeting people to see how the season is going. It's just local work by local people and we like it that way.
