I’ve been at Iqbal Ganj Bombay Market 1813 for a while now. It's not a huge place, just Nigam Communication. We deal with phones and all the small parts that go into them. The market gets very loud around noon, and that's when most people start coming in. I sit behind the counter most of the day. Most people are looking for a quick fix for a screen or a battery that won't hold a charge. Sometimes the parts we need don't arrive on time, and that's just how it goes with the suppliers. We have a small wooden bench for people to sit on while they wait. It’s a bit dusty in here because of all the construction happening on the main road. I’ve lived around this area for a long time, so I know most of the other shop owners. The market has changed a lot over the years. New shops open up and old ones close their shutters, but we stay put here at 1813. It’s not a fancy showroom. We just have some glass shelves with cases and chargers on display. My tea guy comes by twice a day, and that's usually the highlight of my afternoon. People come in frustrated with broken phones, and I have to have a lot of patience. Sometimes the internet is slow and we can’t process recharges fast enough, which makes customers grumpy. We just keep working. That’s life here in Bombay Market.
