Being on Sarabha Nagar Ferozepur Road 35E means there’s never a quiet moment. The traffic is constant. Mr Beans is tucked into the corner there. Most mornings start with the smell of the machines warming up. I usually spend the first hour checking the milk and making sure the tables are straight. The chairs are wooden and they make a scraping sound on the floor when people move them. I’ve thought about putting pads on the legs but never got around to it. The windows look out onto Ferozepur Road. It’s interesting to watch people stuck in their cars while I’m inside. We get a lot of students and office workers from Sarabha Nagar. They are always in a hurry. I try to move fast but sometimes the orders pile up. The counter is made of dark wood and has a few scratches from years of keys and coins being dropped on it. There is a small plant in the corner that looks a bit dry. I forget to water it some days. We keep the napkins in those plastic holders that always get stuck. It’s a simple setup at 35E. Nothing fancy or complicated. Just a place where people can grab something and sit for a minute. The walls have a few pictures that are slightly tilted. I like it that way. It feels more like a real room than a polished shop. People come and go and the door never stays closed for long.
