If you head down Jangpur Road in Mullanpur Dakha, you’ll find Kaur Rupinder Architect at H.No.1/169. We are right near Octroi Post No.1, which is usually how people find their way here when they are visiting for the first time. The office is part of the house, so it has a very lived-in, comfortable feel to it. It’s not a cold, glass-and-steel building like you might see in the city center. We have our drafting tables set up and plenty of books on design lying around on the shelves. People from the area often drop by to ask about building a new gate or adding a small room to their house. We handle the small stuff and the bigger projects too. It’s just how it is in a place like Mullanpur Dakha. You get to know your neighbors and you help them out with their building plans whenever they need it. We don't have a receptionist or a big waiting room with magazines. Usually, if the door is open, you can just walk in and say hi. We might be in the middle of a complicated drawing, but we’ll always stop to have a chat. It’s a simple way of working that really suits us. We’ve been here for quite some time, and the local landmarks like the octroi post make it feel like home. We aren't trying to change the world, just doing the work.
