At Kashmiri Confectionary, we’re located at Civil Line 531. It’s a straightforward kind of place. We spend a lot of time around ovens and sugar. The smell of baking usually fills the air long before we actually open the doors to the public. Being in Civil Line means we get a mix of people walking by, from office workers to families. We aren’t a big chain or anything. It’s just a small shop where we sell sweets and snacks. The display cases are full of things we make, and we try to keep everything fresh. Sometimes we run out of the popular items by midday, which can be frustrating for people, but we can only make so much at a time. The shop floor is simple, with just enough room for a few customers to stand and pick out what they want. We don't use fancy packaging unless someone asks for it for a gift. Usually, it’s just paper bags and boxes. Working here means getting used to the heat from the kitchen and the constant rhythm of the front door opening and closing. We don’t have a big philosophy about what we do. We just make the food, put it out for sale, and hope people enjoy it. It’s a busy life, especially during festivals when everyone wants something sweet. We just keep our heads down and keep working through the orders as they come in. It’s been this way for a long time.
