Indian Molasses Co.

We are the Indian Molasses Co., over at 219 in Industrial Area-A, not far from the big water tank at Cheema Chowk. This part of the city is full of old factories and workshops. Molasses is a messy business, so our floors are always a bit stained, no matter how much we clean them. The smell is quite strong too, sweet and thick, but we don't even notice it anymore. We spend our days managing the tanks and making sure the deliveries are ready for the tankers that pull in. The yard is quite small, so it’s always a bit of a struggle to fit the big vehicles inside. We have an old office with heavy metal cabinets full of files from years ago. We still use a lot of paper forms here instead of doing everything on the computer. It’s just the way we have always done things and it works for us. The ceiling fans hum all day long to keep the air moving. Cheema Chowk is a landmark that everyone knows, so it makes it easy to give directions to anyone visiting. We often get tea from the little shop across the street when things get slow in the afternoons. It’s a lot of manual labor, checking valves and monitoring levels. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or slogans. We just sell molasses to the people who need it for their own products. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living in this busy industrial part of town.
