The shop here at GS Electroinics is tucked away in Guru Nanak Pura, right in the Civil Line area. It is not a very big place, just enough room for a counter and all the shelves full of spare parts and half-finished projects. If you walk in, you will probably see me hunched over a circuit board with a soldering iron. There is always a faint smell of burnt plastic and old dust in the air. People bring in their broken radios or fans that stopped spinning, hoping I can find a way to make them run again. I try my best with what I have. Sometimes the parts take a week to arrive from the city, so the back room gets a bit cluttered with boxes and labeled bags. Civil Line can be quite busy, and the noise from the street leaks through the front door whenever someone comes in. I have lived around here most of my life, so I know most of the people who walk past the window every day. We have some old chairs for customers to sit on if they want to wait, though they are not very comfortable anymore. I keep a small diary to track what needs fixing, but mostly I just remember the faces. It is a quiet way to spend the day, just fiddling with wires and testing voltages. I do not mind the long hours because there is always something different to look at on the workbench.
