Faruq Communication is located right on the National Highway 8, specifically near the C T M Char Rasta in the Civil Line area. Being on a highway means we see a lot of different people. Some are just passing through and need a quick recharge or a cable, while others are locals from around Civil Line who come to us for their regular phone needs. The traffic noise is constant, but you get used to it after a week. It’s a small shop, mostly filled with mobile accessories and some SIM cards. We do a lot of talk-time recharges and fix small issues with handsets. It’s not a glamorous job, sitting behind a counter all day, but it’s interesting to see who walks through the door. The C T M Char Rasta is a major landmark, so people never have trouble finding us. We try to keep the shop organized, but it gets a bit cluttered when we get a new shipment of covers or earphones. My brother and I take turns running the place. We don’t have a big philosophy or anything, we just want to make sure the person leaves with their phone working. The heat can be tough in the summer with the road right there, but we have a small fan that keeps things okay. It’s a simple business. We open early and stay until the highway traffic thins out a bit at night, usually when the streetlights come on.
