Doval Knitwears

If you know Wait Ganj, you know how busy it gets. Doval Knitwears has been in this part of the market for a long time. It’s crowded, noisy, and there’s always someone moving a bundle of clothes past your door. Our space isn't huge, but we pack it full of whatever we’re making that season. In the winter, it’s all heavy woolens and sweaters piled up to the ceiling. You can hear the hum of the market outside all day long. It's an old building, so the walls have some cracks and the floor is a bit uneven, but it’s home to us. We’ve got a few machines in the back and a couple of guys who’ve been with us for ten years. They know exactly how the yarn should feel. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit there talking until it comes back on. That’s just part of working in Wait Ganj. We don’t do much advertising; people just know we are here. They walk in, check the quality of the knit, and we talk price over some chai. It’s honest work. We aren't trying to be some big corporate brand. We just want to make sure the sweaters are warm and the people who buy them are satisfied enough to come back next year. My father started this and now I'm here every day, making sure the orders are right and the yarn is good. It’s a simple life for us here.
