Paradise Shawls

If you go down Bagh Wali Gali, you will find our place at number 1351. Paradise Shawls is a small shop in a very narrow street. It has been our family’s spot for a really long time now. The walls inside are lined with stacks of wool and many different embroidered pieces. It usually smells like old fabric and ginger tea in here. We do not have a big window to display things because the lane is too tight for people to stop and look for long. People just walk right in. Most of our customers have been coming to see us for years. We spend most of the day unfolding shawls and showing the different patterns to people. It takes a lot of time to look at everything properly and we do not like to rush anyone. We are not into using high-tech stuff for the business. We still use an old paper ledger for most of our records. The light in the back of the shop is not the best, so we often bring the fabrics to the front door to show the true colors. Bagh Wali Gali is always crowded and noisy, so it is never quiet for long. We like the noise though. It feels like home to us. We do not try to be fancy or modern. We just have a lot of shawls and we know where every single one is kept.
